The Ibans were long ago feared for their headhunting activities. Visit the descendant of the feared warriors in one of the last remaining remote authentic Iban longhouses of the Batang Lupar headwaters, the Lemanak River, 200km due east of Kuching. This 2 days 1 night visit allows you a real taste of Iban living by visiting authentic longhouses and being hosted by your Iban host, including authentic local cuisines. The natives here continue to follow primitive modes of subsistence like basket or mat weaving, mending of fishing nets, feeding of livestock and fishing. Try “tuak” (a potent local rice wine) and stay in a simple River Lodge style accommodation overnight.

In the event of only (01) adult & (01) child, the charges will be based on (02) adults.
Child age in between 03 & below 12 years old is subject to 50% of the adult’s rate.
Infant age 02 years old and below are entitled free of charge on existing services, facilities and amenities.

Depart in the morning from your hotel and drive through countryside road for 05-06 hours passing by paddy fields, pepper, rubber and cocoa plantations amidst green mountainous scenery. Stop over at a small town Serian to visit native market and buy some local vegies and fruits for longhouse rations. Local lunch is served at Lachau’s bazaar, a local café and also to get gifts for the longhouse folk before proceed to Lemanak boat jetty where a motorized longboat awaits to take you upriver. The boat journey which takes about an hour to the longhouse. Upon arrival, your guide would brief you on longhouse and you are free to explore the longhouse and the surrounding on your own. After the dinner, join the rest of the longhouse folks and enjoy the evening of traditional music and dance with rounds of tuak, their home-made rice wine. Guests can present their gifts to the longhouse chief, small tokens which will be shared equally amongst those present. Overnight will be at basic facilities of the Iban longhouse.
After breakfast, take part in a blowpipe demonstration before proceeding for a nature walk through local orchards where they grow rubber, pepper, rice field and collect some edible and medicinal plants. After nature walk, we continue to Iban ancestors old graveyard . Embark into the longboat to go downriver to get the right spot for traditional bamboo cooking and barbeque while you might want to dip yourself on the river. After enjoy your traditional lunch by 1300 hours, proceed and overland to your hotel in Kuching City.
