The Magic of Sarawak’s Mulu Caves ( The World Heritage Site )
Deep in the virgin tropical rainforest of Sarawak, along an unbroken 40 Km band of limestone peaks, lie one of earth’s natural wonder – The Mulu Caves, Hidden away on the face of steep mountains rising to 1,500m, rivers suddenly disappear into these caves. A mysterious, magical world whose interior simply ripples with exciting discoveries. The Mulu Caves Complex contains 4 Show Caves which you can journey into – The Cave of Winds, Clearwater Cave, Deer Cave and Land’s Cave. Gunung Api or Pinnacles is of special interest, being the highest limestone mountain in Malaysia, and possessing the Pinnacles, strange limestone spikes, like figures watching the park below, with some standing 45meter (148 feet ) high, climbing and watching sunrise is a dream comes true for climbers.
This 7 days/6 nights, 24 kilometres trek begins at Park HQ at around 40m above sea level to Gunung(Mt) Mulu at 2 377 m. Perhaps the most difficult challenge in Mulu, you have to prepare and plan well. Restrictions and guidelines are there to keep you safe and to protect the environment.
Arrive Mulu, check in at selected accomodation, free& easy until 2pm. Transfer to park for registration. Walk 3km visit deer & lang caves. Late evening wait for million of bats exodus( depend on wheather) Back to accomodation dinner & rest.
After breakfast,
9:00am Begin hiking to camp1** this is a 3-4 hours hike,( 20-30 degree elevation throughout the hike)
14:00pm Arrive at camp 1. Rest and lunch at camp 1.
15:00pm continue hike to camp3
**this is 3-4 hours hike( 30-40 degree elevatipn throughout the hike)
19:00pm Arrive at camp3. Rest, dinner and overnight at camp3.
08:00am Rise and shine.
08:30am Breakfast
09:00am Continue hike to camp4** this is 3-4 hours hike( 40-40degree elevation throughout the hike)
13:00pm Arrive at camp4. Lunch, rest and relax enjoy the view and surrounding at camp4.
19:00pm Dinner and overnight at camp4. Sleep early for a very early morning the next day.
04:00am rise and shine. Light snack before starting the ascent to summit
04:30am Ascend up to summit** Your bag is only to carry water & food and other personel medication( if required). The return hike will take about 5-6 hours.
10:00am Back to Camp4 for breakfast.
11:00am Pack up and start the decent to camp 3** this is take 3-4 hours hike
14:30pm Arrive at camp3, rest and lunch.
15:30pm Continue descent to camp1 **this is take 3-4 gours hike
19:30pm Arrive at camp 1. Rest, dinner and overnight at camp1
07:00am Rise and shine. Freshen up and pack ypur bags.
07:30am Breakfast at camp1
08:00am begin descend back to Mulu Park HQ** this is take 3-4 hours hike
12:00pm Arrive at Mulu Park HQ, lunch. After lunch,
take a boat ride to kuala litut, walk 9km jungle trekking to camp5. Dinner and over night in camp 5.
After breakfast, climb the gunung api to see the pinnacle. All the way will step on the rock and root until view point of pinnacle. Beside enjoy the view of pinnacle, will serve the pack lunch. Back to camp 5 dinner and rest.(breakfast, pack lunch, Dinner)
Trekking back to kuala litut after breakfast. Take a boatride to visit wind& clearwater caves will serve pack lunch and send to airport for next destination. (breakfast, pack lunch)
